Talk Title: Virtual Human Twins in Rare Disease: Perspectives and Vision of a Pharmaceutical Clinical Development Scientist
Diego J. Arguello, PhD, is a research scientist specializing in human physiology, late-stage clinical development, clinical imaging, and patient-centric digital health innovation. He is a Clinical Development Scientist at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, focusing on amyloidosis and rare cardiac and metabolic diseases. His current work centers on late-stage clinical trials for investigational therapies in transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), leveraging clinical imaging alongside mathematical and computational methods to elucidate disease mechanisms and pathways of therapeutic benefit. Diego brings over 10 years of experience across academia, consulting, and industry in clinical development and digital health transformation. Prior to Alexion, he was a Research Scientist at Northeastern University’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences, where he led the end-to-end development of public health clinical trials deploying novel, digital health technology-enabled interventions to tailor physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior in populations with cardiometabolic disease.
