Gokhan Ertaylan
Talk Title: From Prototype to Practice: Evaluating and Scaling healthcare Digital Twins
Gokhan Ertaylan is the Research Leader at the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO). Dr. Ertaylan has received his MSc degree in Bioinformatics and Genomics from Utrecht University in 2006. Later, he has joined University of Amsterdam for his graduate study, where he co-created a personalized decision support system for HIV patients offering the appropriate medications matching their profile. He has obtained his PhD degree on the Computational Systems Biology Laboratory in 2011. Later he has joined Luxembourg Center for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB), University of Luxembourg, as a Marie Curie Fellow studying Anoikis Resistance in Breast Cancer Metastasis. In 2015, he has moved to Maastricht Center for Systems Biology (MACSBIO), Maastricht University, Maastricht, Netherlands as Senior Researcher.
Currently he is the principal investigator at the group Digital Precision Health (DPH) in Unit Sustainable Health, VITO, Belgium where the research focus is data driven translational research.
He is currently coordinating a public-private consortium on the topic of implementation of Regulatory Sandboxes for innovative technologies in the healthcare domain, co-leading Horizon Europe funded project REALM- Real-world-data Enabled Assessment for heaLth regulatory decision-Making among others and various National grants. He has supervised 4 Postdoctoral fellows, 10 PhDs, 20+ MSc Students and authored 30+ International Peer Reviewed Articles.
