Oscar Camara
Talk Title: Virtual Humans: from Academy to Clinical Translation
Oscar Camara is the Director of the School of Engineering at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), where he is also a Full Professor in the Department of Engineering. A Telecommunications Engineer from the UPC, he obtained his PhD in image processing in Paris (ENST, 2003) and carried out his postdoctoral stage in London (King's College and University College London) before joining UPF in 2007. In 2011, he founded the PhySense research group, now part of the BCN MedTech unit. His research focuses on the development of computational and artificial intelligence tools for the analysis of medical data, digital twins, and simulation. With a strong emphasis on clinical translation, his work has resulted in more than 100 publications in scientific journals, over 200 conference contributions, 4 patents, and the co-founding of two spin-offs (Miwendo and VirTest Technologies). He has been the principal investigator of competitive national and European projects uninterruptedly since 2012.
