8th International Workshop on Infrared Microscopy and Spectroscopy using Accelerator Based Sources

Motivation

The next Workshop on Infrared Microscopy and Spectroscopy using Accelerator-based Sources (WIRMS) is being planned for Fall of 2015 on Long Island, New York, USA. The program will include most aspects of infrared and THz studies that utilize relativistic electron beam sources such as synchrotron storage rings and linacs/FELs. Suitable topics include:

New sources and characteristics

  • Synchrotron light sources and beamlines for infrared
  • Facilities for large area imaging
  • Coherent THz from ultra-short electron bunches
  • Novel instrumentation to exploit the unique source characteristics

Microspectroscopy applied to scientific problems in:

  • Biology, Biomedicine
  • Environment
  • Earth (geology) and Space sciences
  • Materials science (e.g. polymers, interfaces, catalysis)
  • Condensed matter physics

Measurements using Special Instruments and Techniques

  • Near-field spectroscopic microscopy / nanoscopy
  • Ellipsometry
  • Extreme environments (high pressures, high and low temperatures, high B-field)
  • Photo-induced and Time-resolved

This website will provide updates on Workshop details and venue as well as abstract submission and registration. To be added to our email list, please send your request to WIRMS2015@bnl.gov.
