C2QA QIS 102: Applied Quantum Computing Summer School

Application period is closed

This is a three-week virtual workshop to introduce college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates to the world of quantum information science (QIS). Through a series of demonstrations and hands-on programming labs, students will learn how quantum algorithms applied to specific problem domains can outperform classical computers. Students will learn IBM Qiskit—software for working with quantum computers at the level of pulses, circuits, and application modules. All required courseware and development tools are open source.

VA Tech & C2QA QIS & Engineering High School-level Summer Program

Application period closes June 14, 2024

Virginia Tech, in collaboration with C2QA offers a four-day virtual summer school program for students to explore the basic principles that underlie quantum technologies and gain an appreciation for the novel capabilities unlocked by quantum mechanics. The program, running from August 5–8, 2024, will be conducted via Zoom web conferencing. There is no fee to participate. Educators are welcome to attend.

C2QA QIS 303: Quantum Error Mitigation

Registration period closes July 31, 2024

Quantum information science (QIS) experts discuss quantum error mitigation through a series of lectures and seminars. Organized by C2QA principal investigators and Stony Brook University professors Dmitri Kharzeev and Tzu-Chieh Wei, this summer program is designed for advanced undergraduate students, beginning graduate students, postdocs, and other quantum practitioners. The program is free and open to the public. The program runs from August 12–15, 2024 and will be conducted via Zoom web conferencing.

For questions about any of these courses, email C2QA-info@bnl.gov.

Quantum Thursdays

Students are invited to join our virtual lecture series Quantum Thursdays that focuses on bringing awareness to the undergraduate and graduate communities about quantum information science, the research being done in C2QA, and the different career paths available in this field. Our next series of lectures will take place September - December 2024.

Department of Energy Internship Programs

(Note: Quantum programs are available at Brookhaven National Lab, Pacific Northwest National Lab, Ames Lab, and Jefferson Lab)

Community College Internship

The Department of Energy's Community College Internship (CCI) program encourages 2-year college students to enter technical careers by providing training experiences at a Department of Energy national laboratory through the spring, summer, and fall programs. For more information, visit the CCI website.

Student Undergraduate Laboratory Internship

The Department of Energy's Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) program encourages undergraduate (2-year and 4-year) students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers by providing research experiences at a Department of Energy national laboratory through the spring, summer, and fall programs. For more information, visit the SULI website.

Visiting Faculty Program

The Visiting Faculty Program (VFP) increases the research competitiveness of faculty members and their students by providing research experiences at a Department of Energy national laboratory through this ten week summer program. For more information, visit the VFP website.
