General Lab Information

Access to Brookhaven National Lab is available to those who have official business with the Laboratory, are properly sponsored by a Laboratory employee, or are attending an event open to the public. U.S. citizens age 16 and over must bring photo-identification that has been issued by the federal government, such as a passport, or by your state government, such as a current driver’s license or a photo identification card issued to non-drivers by a state’s motor vehicles department. Non-U.S. citizens should see these requirements.

Scientific Collaborators

The first step for all guests and facility users planning to come to the Laboratory is to register through our Guest Information System. Some visitors may also need to submit a User Agreement, reserve housing, open project accounts, and arrange to have materials shipped to the Lab.

All guests and facility users must check-in at the Guest, User, Visitor Center, Building 400E, prior to visiting their department and/or user facility. Check-in hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Guests should make every attempt to arrive during these hours.

The Guest, User & Visitor Center welcomes researchers from universities, government laboratories, and industry from within the U.S. and abroad who are interested in visiting Brookhaven National Laboratory or performing experiments at one of its scientific user facilities.

Students & Educators

The Office of Educational Program's Science Learning Center offers programs to students in grades 1 through 12, featuring interactive exhibits, hands-on labs, and programs that demonstrate basic scientific principles using the inquiry method of teaching. Our Learning Center is open to chaperoned groups by reservation. Email the Office of Educational Programs or call (631) 344-4495.

General Public

Brookhaven Lab's Stakeholder Relations Office coordinates visits for thousands of guests each year to support the Lab's mission and science initiatives. We host lectures and other public events throughout the year which are free and open to the public.

Laboratory Tour Program

Meet the people who make the leading-edge research at Brookhaven National Laboratory happen. Learn about our science and visit our world-class tools of discovery. Group tours are limited to 10-20 guests from college institutions, professional organizations, and adult community groups. Tours can be scheduled on select weekdays and are not available on weekends or holidays.

Summer Sunday Open House Tours
