Nuclear Physics & RIKEN Theory Seminar

"Lattice QCD with Mixed Fermion Actions"

Presented by Oliver Baer, University of Tsukuba

Friday, March 18, 2005, 2:00 pm — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

Numerical Lattice QCD simulations can be performed with
different fermion formulations for the sea and valence quarks. Interesting combinations would be Ginsparg-Wilson valence fermions, which preserve chiral symmetry on the lattice, together with computationally cheap Wilson or staggered sea fermions. I will discuss the potential advantages of these type of simulations as well as what
Chiral Perturbation Theory tells us about their validity to simulate real QCD.
