"Spin-physics with Polarized Antiprotons at GSI"

Presented by Frank Rathmann, Forschungszentrum Zulich, Germany

Monday, June 6, 2005, 11:00 am — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

The PAX Collaboration is proposing the realization of a high-intensity polarized antiproton beam at the Facility for Antiprotons and Ion Research by the GSI in Darmstadt (Germany). This will provide access to a wealth of
single and double spin observables like the first direct measurement of the transversity distribution of the valence quarks in the proton. In the presentation both the physics potential and the technical aspects of the project will be illustrated.
