"High-pt Direct Photon Production at Fermilab Fixed-Target Energies"

Presented by Leonard Apanasevich, Fermilab

Tuesday, November 15, 2005, 11:00 am — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

We present results from Fermilab experiment E706 on the production of direct photons and neutral mesons on nuclear targets at large transverse momenta. The data are from 530 and 800 GeV/c proton beams and 515 GeV/c pion beams
incident upon beryllium, copper and hydrogen targets that span the kinematic range of 1.0 < pt < 10 GeV/c at central rapidities. The measurements are compared to next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations and to
predictions from a phenomenological model of nuclear effects.
