Particle Physics Seminar

"High Mass Diffraction at the LHC"

Presented by Christophe Royon, DAPNIA/Service de physique des particules

Thursday, December 21, 2006, 3:00 pm — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

We present a short review about hard diffraction at the LHC. We start by describing the interest of exclusive diffractive events, and we discuss the search for these events both at the Tevatron and the LHC. We discuss in particlular the exclusvie diffractive production of Higgs bosons, W and top events. We finish by discussing the uncertainties on the gluon distribution in the Pomeron at large $\beta$ and some new methods to measure the survival probability.
