"Baryonic B Decays at BaBar"

Presented by Stephanie Majewski, Stanford University

Friday, June 1, 2007, 2:00 pm — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

We present studies of various baryonic B meson decays, including B --> Lambda_c antiproton (pi), using data from up to 383 million B-Bbar pairs collected with the BaBar detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Baryonic B decays can provide insight into baryon production from B mesons through baryon- antibaryon "threshold enhancements" in multi-body decays and dominance of multi-body decays over 2-body decays. Radiative baryonic B decays could provide an additional window into searches for new physics if baryon production
is understood. B meson decays to baryons are also a laboratory for searches for exotic baryon states and potential charmed baryon spin measurements.
