3rd Annual Dr. Mow S. Lin Scholarship Award Ceremony

"Highly Crystalline Rectangular Palladium Nanoparticles: Colloidal Synthesis and Electron Microscopy Studies"

Presented by Yuan Sun, Stony Brook University

Tuesday, October 2, 2007, 4:00 pm — Hamilton Seminar Room, Bldg. 555

The BERA Asian Pacific American Association (APAA) invites all to attend the Award Ceremony for the 3rd annual Dr. Mow Shiah Lin Scholarship. The award of $1,000 will be presented to Ms. Yuan Sun, a graduate student at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Stony Brook University studying the Synthesis of Nanomaterials and their Application in Hydrogen Storage and Fuel Cells.

The APAA established the Dr. Mow Shiah Lin Scholarship to commemorate the life and career of Dr. Lin, who was a distinguished scientist at the Energy Sciences and Technology Department. In honor of Dr. Lin’s research, remarkable achievements, and inventions, this scholarship will be granted annually to an Asian immigrant with a Student Visa matriculating toward a graduate degree at an accredited institution of higher education in Environmental Energy & Technology, Biology, or Chemistry, befitting the manner in which Dr. Lin began his career.

Ms. Sun will present a brief introduction on her current research project titled “Highly Crystalline Rectangular Palladium Nanoparticles: Colloidal Synthesis and Electron Microscopy Studies”. She will be introduced by her advisor, Dr. Miriam Rafailovich

The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 2nd, at 4:00 p.m., in the Hamilton Seminar Room of the Chemistry Department, Bldg. 555.
