"Past, Present, and Future of Hard Probes at RHIC"

Presented by James Dunlop

Tuesday, October 30, 2007, 3:30 pm — Large Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

The discovery of jet quenching at RHIC, in collisions between nuclei at high energies, is a major success. The strength of the effect, however, introduces a challenge to its use in the quantitative determination of the properties of the collision zone.
Methods to address this challenge will be reviewed, in the context of the upcoming upgrades to the detectors and the order of magnitude increase in luminosity from the RHIC II collider upgrade.
