"Search for proton-axion oscillations with eth GammeV experiment"

Presented by Aaron Chou, New York University

Thursday, October 18, 2007, 3:00 pm — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

I present the first results of the GammeV experiment at Fermilab, a search for oscillations of laser photons into axion-like particles similar to one that had been previously been performed at BNL. With our new appartus, we are able to quickly cover a region of parameter space not previously excluded by the BNL experiment, and test the particle interpretation of the recent anomalous PVLAS signal. I will also discuss the second stage of the experiment, a search for mass-varying chameleon particles.
