"Initial State Radiation Physics at BaBar"

Presented by David Muller, SLAC

Thursday, March 13, 2008, 3:00 pm — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

We present a survey of BaBar measurements of low-energy e+e-
annihilation processes accessed via initial state radiation.
New or improved measurements have been made for a number of
exclusive hadronic channels from their respective thresholds
up to center-of-mass energies of 4-5 Gev. They yield a large
set of results on cross sections, form factors and hadron
spectroscopy, including the observation of several new states.
The total e+e- -> hadrons cross section is important input to
theoretical calculations of the anomalous magnetic moment of
the muon and the value of the fine structure constant at the
Z0 mass scale, both issues of current interest in electroweak
physics. Our contributions from exclusive states are discussed,
and we present the status of an inclusive measurement that extends
the energy reach.
