Particle Physics Seminar

"Measurement of the off-axis NuMI beam with MiniBoone"

Presented by Zelimir Djurcic, Columbia University

Thursday, January 17, 2008, 3:00 pm — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

The MiniBooNE detector at Fermilab observes off-axis
neutrinos from the NuMI/Minos beamline. We analyzed charged current
quasi-elastic ( numu + n ---> mu + p ) events that
dominate at energies below 2 GeV. This sample is used to
demonstrate our understanding of the beam.
An analysis to isolate an enriched nue event sample ( nue + n ---> e + p )
is performed in the next step.
The first results of the analyses will be presented.
