Nuclear Physics Seminar

"Hard probes in AdS/CFT"

Presented by Silviu S. Pufu, Princeton University

Tuesday, March 11, 2008, 11:00 am — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

I will first talk about the energy flow around heavy quarks and mesons in
a strongly coupled N = 4 thermal plasma as computed from the AdS/CFT
duality. In the second part of the talk I will describe an attempt at
computing the stopping distance of energetic gluons moving through the
plasma, and make a rough estimate of the jet-quenching parameter.
