"Water on the Moon"

Presented by Arlin Crotts, Columbia University

Tuesday, February 9, 2010, 3:30 pm — Large Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

With the results from the LCROSS and Chandrayaan-1/M3 missions in late 2009 it is now evident to all that there is water on the lunar surface. Does this water (or at least its hydrogen) originate outside or inside the Moon? We will review older and recent evidence which points to an intrinsic origin for much of the lunar water and discuss what this means for lunar science and exploration.
