Special Research Library/Physics Seminar

"A look into possible journal future"

Presented by Sami Mitra/ Robert Kelly, PRL and APS

Thursday, April 15, 2010, 10:15 am — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

The internet has diminished the role of science journals as disseminators of information. Due to broad and free access to the arXiv, the debate over Open Access in physics is a red herring. We discuss how physics journals in particular, but science journals overall, are reorienting themselves as so-called choice architects, to help authors, readers, and librarians negotiate their way through information overload and ever-more-specialized research.
