Physics Colloquium

"The next decade of heavy ion experiments: towards a standard model ?"

Presented by Raju Venugopalan, BNL

Tuesday, December 7, 2010, 3:30 pm — Large Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

Heavy Ion physics is now a mature field with striking experimental phenomena from RHIC and significant advances in the theory of many body QCD. With RHIC embarking on ambitious luminosity and detector upgrades, and exciting "hot off the press" results emerging from the LHC, its timely to review briefly the status of heavy ion theory. In particular, we shall discuss some of the open questions we hope to have answered at RHIC and the LHC in the next decade.
