"Latest Electron Neutrino Appearance Results from MINOS"

Presented by Lisa Whitehead, Brookhaven National Laboratory

Thursday, August 11, 2011, 3:00 pm — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

MINOS is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment situated along Fermilab's high-intensity NuMI neutrino beam. MINOS has completed an updated search for muon neutrino to electron neutrino transitions, observation of which would indicate a non-zero value for the neutrino mixing angle theta_13. Since the release of our previous results last year, we have added 15% more data to our sample and enhanced our sensitivity with improved analysis techniques. The new result and its implications are presented.
