Particle Physics Seminar

"Final KTeV Measurements of CP Violation and CPT Symmetry"

Presented by Elizabeth Worchester, University of Chicago

Thursday, August 25, 2011, 3:00 pm — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

I will present the final measurement from KTeV of the direct CP violation parameter Re(epsilon'/epsilon) and the associated measurements of other kaon parameters and CPT tests. The level of direct CP violation is measured to 10% and all measurements are consistent with CPT symmetry. These results are based on all of the KTeV data and include significant improvements to the data analysis and the Monte Carlo simulation. I will focus on details of the reconstruction and simulation of EM showers in the KTeV CsI calorimeter and the determination of systematic uncertainties which are critical to the precision of the measurement. I will also discuss plans to allow continued access to the KTeV data for future analyses.
