"Anode Pad Readout in Gas-filled Neutron Detectors"

Presented by Graham Smith, Instrumentation Division

Wednesday, October 17, 2018, 2:30 pm — Large Conference Room, Bldg. 535

In the design and fabrication of position-sensitive gas detectors, those with anode pad readout have become an important component of our work. Application Specific Integrated Circuits permit parallel readout of a high-density of anode pads, with low noise, low power and high rate capability. Recent developments of these detectors in our laboratory are described, with particular emphasis on large area, thermal neutron detection. Results illustrate the TPC-like nature of their operation.
