Abstract: I will present an overview of state-of-the-art results on moments of parton distributions from lattice QCD as well as recent computations of parton distribution functions (PDFs) using the large momentum effective theory. I will discuss our recent studies on the evaluation of the individual up, down and strange quark helicity PDFs and generalised parton distributions for the proton and give future prospectives.
