"Unlocking the mysteries of dark matter and neutrinos with the deep underground Xenon Observatory"

Presented by Prof. Jianlai Liu, Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Tuesday, October 4, 2022, 3:30 pm — Hybrid: Building 510, Large Seminar Room

Abstract: Dark matter and neutrinos are elusive neutral matter filling up our Universe. The PandaX (Particle and Astrophysical Xenon) experiment, located in the world deepest China Jinping Underground Laboratory, is dedicated to the search for dark matter particles and to study the fundamental properties of neutrinos. The currently running experiment (PandaX-4T) contains a sensitive time-projection-chamber with a 3.7-ton liquid Xenon target. In this talk, after an overview, I will present recent results from PandaX-4T on dark matter direct detection, double beta decay of 136Xe, as well as on solar neutrinos. I will also discuss the future prospects of PandaX.
