"Positivity of Effective Field Theories and Large-N QCD"

Presented by Prof. Francesco Riva, Geneva U.

Thursday, January 19, 2023, 12:30 pm — Hybrid: Building 510, Room 2-160

Abstract: I will describe how microscopic causality and unitarity imply positivity relations among the coefficients of generic effective field theories. In the context of Large-N QCD, the coefficients of the chiral Lagrangian are confined to live within islands, whose sharp boundaries are associated with known UV spectra. Furthermore, positivity constraints lead to consistency relations which necessarily exhibit vector meson dominance.
