C-AD Accelerator Physics Seminar

"Specs for a practical and high precision proton EDM experiment at BNL"

Presented by Yannis Semertzidis, BNL

Friday, September 23, 2011, 4:00 pm — Large Conference Room, Bldg. 911B

We have made a lot of progress regarding the understanding of the proton EDM experiment at its magic momentum on polarimeters, spin coherence time, electric field development, and beam position monitors. We plan to develop a BPM to be tested at RHIC to show feasibility of the method of a proven technique in an accelerator environment. Geometrical effects, regarding spin rotations in three dimensions, set the specs of the all-electric ring parameters.
