C-AD Accelerator Physics Seminar

"ERL photoinjector R&D at Cornell"

Presented by Ivan Bazarov and Jared Maxson, Cornell University

Tuesday, October 11, 2011, 4:00 pm — Large Conference Room, Bldg. 911B

Cornell University is pushing the accelerator state-of-the-art by developing a very high average (100mA) ultra-low emittance (<1mm-mrad rms normalized) electron source. We will provide a description of the challenges and mention some achievements to date. Then, we will discuss the potential of SRF photoemission guns, such as is being pursued at BNL, from beam dynamics point of view, and compare them to DC high voltage photoemission guns.
