"Status of and First Results from the MEG Experiment: Search for +e+"

Presented by William Molzon, University of California, Irvine

Friday, December 9, 2011, 11:00 am — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

The MEG experiment at the Paul Scherrer Institut is designed to search for the muon- and electron-number violating decay +e+with a branching fraction sensitivity approaching 10-13. I will give a brief introduction, describe the experiment, give new results that improve on the previously existing upper limit, and discuss prospects for further improvement.
