C-AD Accelerator Physics Seminar

"Recent activities and future plans at Jefferson Lab"

Presented by Fulvia Pilat, JLAB

Tuesday, November 15, 2011, 4:00 pm — Large Conference Room, Bldg. 911B

The 6 month operations shutdown, necessary to accomplish the phase 1 installation for the 12 GeV CEBAF Upgrade, is coming to an end right now while the accelerator is getting re-started for the last physics run devoted to the 6 GeV physics program. The vast scope of work that happened concurrently at JLAB called for laboratory-wide planning and coordination. I will describe methodology and results, with emphasis on the more technically challenging aspects, such as the first tests with beam of the C100’ s , the first two of the 10 new cryomodules needed to double the machine energy, and the re-commissioning of the arcs after extensive rework of the majority of the dipoles. I will conclude with a discussion of the vision for future SRF R&D, a core competence of JLAB, in the context of the overall Laboratory strategic vision.
