"Edge states in the spin quantum Hall effect"

Presented by Roberto Bondesan, (CEA), France

Tuesday, February 21, 2012, 2:00 pm — Small Seminar Room, Bldg. 510

I discuss edge states in network models for Anderson localization. For the case of the spin quantum Hall effect, some transport properties map to a classical localization problem formulated in terms of a loop model.
Using conformal field theory and lattice algebras, exact critical exponents governing the decay of the conductance at higher plateaus transitions can be predicted, and are found to be in very good agreement with numerical simulations.
