C-AD Accelerator Physics Seminar

"LHC Beam-Beam Studies"

Presented by Xavier Buffat, CERN, Switzerland

Friday, April 6, 2012, 4:00 pm — Large Conference Room Bldg 911B

A summary of the experiments on beam-beam effects done in the LHC will be presented, including large head-on tune shift, coherent motion, orbit effect, dynamic aperture reduction, Pacman effect and leveling with an offset at the interaction point. Moreover the effect of external noise with beam-beam will be briefly discussed, introducing the motivations for an experiment on this effect at RHIC.
