Rm. A Abstract: A general overview of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) and their basic properties will be presented, as well as the charge transfer dynamics of TMDC heterostructures, as shown by absorption spectroscopy. Additionally, data and results regarding the electronic structure of these monolayers and their custom alloys measured via scanning tunneling microscopy will be presented. Coupled with the measured optical properties, the electronic band gap and exciton binding energy are extracted. Host: Matthew Sfeir
