Generate an interest in and excitement about science and engineering. This contest will provide an opportunity for students to showcase their projects to peers and judging teams consisting of Brookhaven National Laboratory scientific and engineering staff and elementary school teachers. Students will gain experience using science and engineering practices and the scientific method or the engineering design process.

Audience for This Competition

This competition is suitable for all Kindergarten through sixth grade students who have already won their school science fair competition.

Registration Information

  1. School Contact Person - The school contact person is responsible for submitting names of entrants. Registration is requested electronically. The school contact should submit all information for all grade levels on the same form. You will receive an automated message containing a summary of your entry. Please ensure that your e-mail address is entered correctly. The information will not be sent by regular mail.
  2. Registration - All registrations will be submitted online. Please do not register until after your school's science fair, but prior to the deadline. Late entries cannot be accepted. Please review the registration instructions for more detailed information of this process.
  3. Participate as a judge in our Science Fair - Please consider participating as a judge alongside Brookhaven National Laboratory staff. If you are interested, please email

The winner (one for each grade level) is awarded a medal and a banner which can be displayed alongside the schools' sports banners. Each student receives a ribbon for participating in the fair and honorable mention medals are also given out.
