General Lab Information

Computational Research

Equipped with advanced applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, and HPC capabilities, CDS works closely with domain scientists to develop, adapt, and optimize advanced scalable algorithms, programming models adaptive workflows, and other hardware and software that can augment diverse, data-intensive applications. This work impacts critical Lab mission areas in computational physics, materials science, biology, and energy and environmental sciences, as well as provides a critical connection point for collaborators from across the globe.

Applied Mathematics

Develops and applies the mathematics necessary to model and solve real-world problems. Our team consists of mathematicians, statisticians, engineers, and physicists who work together and with domain scientists at Brookhaven and elsewhere on large-scale, interdisciplinary challenges. mission research areas include climate change, materials science, accelerator science, biomedicine, plant pathology, energy systems, and quantum computing.

Artificial Intelligence

Details to come.

Computational Science

The Computational Science Dept. has expertise with numerical algorithms and modern parallel programming models such as CUDA, SYCL, HIP, OpenMP, Kokkos, and MPI. With machine learning playing an increasing role in different scientific domains, the group conducts research in developing, adapting, and applying novel approaches for large-scale scientific simulations on High Performance Computing systems.
