Motivation

The Department of Energy's (DOE) Radiological Assistance Program (RAP) Region 1 will be hosting the 2022 annual New England Radiological Health Committee (NERHC) meeting in person at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). Because of concerns in increasing nuclear detonations in the current geopolitical climate including the war in Ukraine, North Korean missile testing, and the continuing terrorist threat, the focus will be on training and exercising compact personnel in the science behind and the protocols in response to nuclear detonations.

The sessions will start the afternoon of Monday, November 14 with a briefing from DOE RAP Region 1. Each day will include training presentations in the morning and associated table-top and field exercises to reinforce concepts and exercise compact protocols in the afternoon. Full details for each session are contained in the agenda. The meeting will wrap up by noon on Friday, November 18.
