Motivation
With the completion of the data-taking mission at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) in early 2026, we will hold a workshop summarizing our present understanding of the Quark–Gluon Plasma (QGP) created in heavy-ion collisions, quark matter found in the interior of neutron stars, as well as the exploration of the QCD phase diagram. Looking forward, we also discuss how insights gained at RHIC will inform the next generation studies of QCD under extreme conditions, with the help of new technologies from Quantum Information Science. This workshop commemorates the seminal scientific contributions of Rob Pisarski, a longtime nuclear theorist at BNL, to our understanding of hot and dense QCD matter.
