General Lab Information

Brookhaven National Lab follows the nationwide identification requirements for federal site access. Anyone 18 years of age and older must have a valid REAL ID, Enhanced ID, Passport or one of these alternate forms of ID to gain access to the Laboratory.

Motivation

The Workforce Development and Science Education Office at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) would like to invite you to participate in our Sci-Ed Day on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Sci-Ed Day is a professional development event for all teachers to participate in a variety of workshops.

Workshop Details

Spend the day at Brookhaven National Laboratory where cutting-edge research abounds. Meet the scientists, see the facilities, and discover the latest and greatest scientific innovations. Learn how to engage students at every level by incorporating current research topics into your curriculum.

Educators will choose one workshop strand for the day that suits their area of interest. In addition to the workshops, participants have the opportunity to visit one of Brookhaven's state of the art research facilities or attend an information session about the upcoming Presidential AI Challenge.

The workshop strands are as follows:

  • Using Electronic Sensors for Earth/Life Sciences
  • Introduction to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
  • Introduction to Quantum Computing

The registration fee is $35 US per participant which includes continental breakfast and lunch. Participation certificates will be distributed at the conclusion of the event.

All registrants must bring a photo ID that meets U.S. REAL ID requirements to enter Brookhaven National Laboratory. Participants will meet at the Science and User Support Center (Building 101). Busses will transport participants to facility tours and workshop locations.

This Sci-Ed Day 2025 is not open to the public. To be eligible to attend, all participants must register online by October 29, 2025. For questions or assistance with registering, please contact the Workshop Coordinator.

October 5, 2025 Additional non-U.S. citizens registration deadline for all participants who do not have an active appointment with Brookhaven Lab. You will be directed to the appropriate form once you have completed the event registration.

Workshop Information

Note: This event falls under Exemption D. Formal classroom training held at Federal facilities, which does not exhibit indicia of a formal conference. The exception would include activities such as regular courses of instructions or training seminars.
