About 27-ID HEX Beamline

HEX will initially comprise of a superconducting wiggler for the source of the high energy x-rays, low energy filtering, and a monochromator compatible with the large beam needed for imaging of large engineering samples.

Future upgrades include the addition of a focusing monochromator and a focusing mirror, as well as the addition of two side branches and two extra endstations.

The final endstation (F-hutch) is housed in a satellite building adjacent to Bldg. 742, and will be capable of housing complex sample environments. Experiments will be performed with a variety of sample stages and a different detector setups for imaging, EDXD, and ADXD.
