Pianofest Noon Recitals at Brookhaven Lab July 6 and August 3

UPTON, NY — Participants in Pianofest, a summer workshop held in the Hamptons, will be showcased in two recitals at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Wednesday, July 6, and Wednesday, August 3, at noon in Berkner Hall. Sponsored by Brookhaven Science Associates, the company that manages the Lab, the concerts are free and open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory 16 and older must bring a photo I.D.

Pianofest is an East Hampton-based intensive workshop now in its 28th season, which addresses the fine points of professional pianism. Its alumni have gone on to make their mark nationally and internationally. For each recital at Brookhaven, the workshop's founder and director, Paul Schenly, brings a selection of outstanding Pianofest participants to perform from the great classical repertoire. In addition to the solo repertoire, the performance may include duets and renditions of popular concertos, using two pianos.
