Stony Brook Opera to Give a Concert of Favorite Art Songs, Opera Arias and Duets at Brookhaven Lab, April 19

The Stony Brook Opera will present a concert of favorite songs, opera arias, and duets at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Wednesday, April 19, at noon in Berkner Hall. Sponsored by Brookhaven Science Associates, the event is free and open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory 16 and older must bring a photo I.D.
The concert will include arias from Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, Massenet’s Thais, Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, Puccini’s La Bohème, Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Weber’s Der Freischütz, Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Saint-Saëns’ Samson et Delilah.
The Stony Brook Opera singers will also perform art songs by Tosti, Richard Strauss, and Reynaldo Hahn, as well as three operatic duets, from Don Giovanni, La Traviata, and Porgy and Bess. Timothy Long will accompany the singers, who will provide short introductions to their selections.
