2024 BSA Scholarships: Call for Applications
December 1, 2023
Do you have a child, who is a senior in high school and planning to go to college next fall?
Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) is offering 20 college scholarships to high school seniors who will graduate this academic year and enter college in the fall of 2024.
These $2,500 scholarships are awarded competitively among children whose parents work for BSA (or have worked for BSA—see details below). Recipients may renew scholarships for a total of four years of study toward an academic degree.
The deadline for application submissions is Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024.
BSA manages Brookhaven Lab for the U.S. Department of Energy through a partnership between Battelle and Stony Brook University.
Stony Brook University is committed to bringing the Brookhaven Lab and Stony Brook communities closer together. Stony Brook will provide matching $2,500 scholarships for as many as 10 BSA scholarship awardees who are admitted to Stony Brook as incoming freshmen and enroll there as full-time undergraduates. More information is available from the university's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services (631.632.6840).
BSA is proud to continue this longstanding tradition of offering scholarships to help promising children of Lab staff as they explore their passions and prepare to enter the future workforce. The tradition began in 1965.
Who Should Apply
High school seniors who will graduate this academic year and enter college in the fall of 2024 are invited to apply.
To qualify, an applicant’s parent must be a full-time or benefits-eligible, part-time BSA employee. Children of retired employees or employees who died while employed at the Laboratory are also eligible. Stepchildren and children of domestic partners are eligible if the BSA employee regularly claims the child as a dependent for income tax purposes or if the child normally resides in the employee's household, which must include the two-year period immediately prior to applying for a scholarship.
