2005
39th Symposium of Northeastern Accelerator Personnel (SNEAP)
10th Conference on Heavy Ion Accelerator Technology (HIAT)
Dates: June 8–11, 2005
This meeting will be held as a virtual event.
Brookhaven National Laboratory is proud to be the 2005 host and sponsor of the Symposium of Northeastern Accelerator Personnel (SNEAP). The laboratory is located in Suffolk County on Long Island, a 120-mile-long island directly east of New York City. The meeting will be held at Danfords on the Sound in Port Jefferson. The SNEAP conference assembles a community of individuals involved in the construction, operation and applications of electrostatic particle accelerators and boosters. Individuals and companies interested in making presentations are invited to submit proposals.
What is SNEAP?
Symposium of North Eastern Accelerator Personnel (SNEAP) is a community of personnel involved with electrostatic particle accelerators and their use. Founded in 1968, the community meets annually to discuss and exchange information for the benefit of all present. The topics covered include ion sources, electrostatic accelerators, telemetry and control systems, cryogenic systems, safety issues and many other subjects relevant to the operation of small to large sized electrostatic accelerators.
The meeting format includes submitted papers, laboratory reports, contributed papers and open discussions. Space for vendors is made available to permit attendees to speak directly with manufacturers and their representatives and to inspect many new devices and products. Attendees include representatives from Universities, National Laboratories, and Industrial Research Laboratories from many countries including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Netherlands, U.S. and others.

What is HIAT?
Heavy Ion Accelerator Technology (HIAT) - Brookhaven National Laboratory and Yale University are proud to co-sponsor the Tenth International Conference on Heavy-ion Accelerator Technology (HIAT) at Port Jefferson, NY October 16-20, 2005. This meeting continues the series most recently hosted by the Nuclear Science Centre, New Delhi, India in 2001.
- The HIAT conference will be held in conjunction with the SNEAP conference.
Topics will include:
- Electrostatic Accelerators
- Booster Accelerators
- Superconducting Cavities
- Acceleration of Radioactive Beams
- Accelerator Mass Spectroscopy
- ECR Ion Sources, and other applications
Past Conferences
Previous meetings were held at Argonne National Laboratory (1998) and the Australian National University, Canberra in 1995. Under the name "International Conference on Electrostatic Accelerators and Associated Boosters" meetings were held at Legnaro (1992), Strasbourg-Heidelberg (1989), Buenos Aires (1985), Oak Ridge (1981), Strasbourg (1977) and Daresbury (1973).
Venue
The sessions will be held at the Danfords Inn which is nestled in the heart of Port Jefferson, a mere 80kms from New York City, on the heritage North Shore of Long Island. Danfords on the Sound provides everything you could possibly ask for!
