April Carbonara

April joined BNL in January 2021. She works in the NSLS-II Document Center and her main role is editing and routing documents through the SharePoint Document Center site. Since the Document Center site transitioned in March 2023 to SharePoint 365 (from the old site), she often helps staff with navigating the new site and is in the process of developing short tutorials to assist staff with using the site in collaboration with the NSLS-II Training staff. Along with troubleshooting and editing the controlled documents, she often assists staff with using Teams to approve their documents and with learning features of this program. Outside of the Document Center duties, she occasionally helps with editing the NSLS-II scientific highlight articles and often is part of the science talk dry runs in preparation for the guest speaker presentations on the NSLS-II weekly All Hands meetings. She is available for occasional writing/editing projects within NSLS-II.

April is a seasoned Technical Writer/Editor with over 15 years of experience in the Manufacturing industry and has worked as part of the Engineering department in her last position for over 6 years, as well as having worked in Marketing in a previous role, also as a Technical Writer, working directly with Engineering staff (including the R&D Director). Her main responsibilities included creating/editing technical documents (instructions sheets, operation/installation manuals and literature) for the company's products. She has 12 years of expertise with Adobe InDesign and has used the rest of Adobe Creative Suite on a regular basis (Acrobat Professional, Illustrator and Photoshop). Her background also includes editing content for the company's website in her previous role working closely with the IT Manager.
