Bernadette Uzzi

Bernadette Uzzi’s interests lie at the intersection between science, education, and communication. She joined the Office of Educational Programs following her career in private industry. Her initial role as coordinator covered several aspects of pre-college programming such as field trips, contests, summer programs, and teacher professional development, with an emphasis on building sustainable secondary level workshops aligned with the scientific research at Brookhaven. She spearheaded several initiatives including SciEd Day, an annual teacher professional development event, Summer Science Explorations, sustainable offerings for groups and individuals, and a Girl Scout Patch Program, the first of its kind in the DOE complex. Of particular interest for Bernadette is building long-term, collaborative relationships with school districts, institutes of higher education, community-based and informal science organizations.
