Helen Chun

Helen Chun is the Sr. Export Compliance Specialist of the Export Compliance Office. She joined Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Export Control Group in 2021 and the newly formed Export Compliance Office in 2022 and will support the team and pave the path forward for export compliance and excellence. The Export Compliance Office is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with the Department of Energy (DOE), International Traffic in Arms (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the Department of Treasury (OFAC). The primary mission for the Export Control Office is to ensure BNL is compliant with its export activity while being an educational resource for BNL employees to seek guidance with export and import related questions.

Helen comes to BNL with over 30 years of Supply Chain and Global Logistics, Trade Compliance experience working in the manufacturing and freight forwarding industry. Prior to her joining BNL, Helen was the Logistics Manager for a large manufacturing company and was responsible for overseeing all aspects of supply chain management, ensuring the flow of raw materials and final products from suppliers to customers. Helen was also appointed as a Deputy Trade Compliance Officer (TCO) to assist with all matters of regulations and compliance with all U.S. Government Trade Regulations including but not limited to Customs Border Protection (CBP) Regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) Regulations, Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC), and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
