Hyunjoon has joined the HXN group as a visiting research scholar: one of his roles is to help developing in-situ annealing technique for nanoprobes. He had served as a manager of beamlines for two soft x-ray spectromicroscopes and as a leader of beamline division at the Pohang Light Source (PLS-II) in Korea. Two soft x-ray spectromicroscopes are scanning photoelectron microscope (SPEM) and scanning transmission x-ray microscope (STXM). His specialty is on setting up and operation of instrumentation. During the PLS period, he had opened and cultivated spectromicroscopy field in Korea, and had served as a committee member for the “international conference on x-ray microscopy” from 2005 to 2013. His current interest is in development of in-situ annealing technique for STXM and application of the technique for probing local temperature dependent chemical state changes inside submicron scale particles, e.g. primary particles for secondary-ion battery cathode. From 2021, he moved to Chungbuk National University in Korea with an aim to help constructing and boosting application activities for the Korea 4-GSR which is under construction in Chungbuk Province in Korea.
