Julian has focused his career at BNL on managing the construction of science infrastructure at NSLS-II by working with others to develop a wide range of instruments for synchrotron science and technology. He served as the project manager for the Beamlines Developed by NSLS-II (BDN), an operations funded project to build eight enterprise beamlines. Following on from BDN Julian developed the NSLS-II Experimental Tools Two (NEXT-II) MIE project to build three beamlines that will finish in 2026 and managed the technical systems for the Laboratory for BioMolecular Structure Cryo-EM project. Most recently Julian has developed the NSLS-II Experimental Tools Three (NEXT-III) line item project to build up to twelve beamlines that will finish in 2036. Julian was selected to the 2019 DOE Project Leadership Institute. He also serves on project review and advisory committees for DOE and for other facilities across the complex.
