Expertise

Within the DOE national laboratories complex, Lacy has expertise in research operations at neutron scattering and light source User Facilities in 1) process improvement, 2) requirements implementation, 3) project management of instrument improvement projects, and 4) experiment support as a scientific associate. 

Prior to arriving at BNL, Lacy was the project lead of multidisciplinary teams for instrument/beamline upgrades, such as infrastructure, sample environment, detectors, and data software/hardware projects, while also managing the multi-year planning & coordination of ~50, large- and mid-scale improvement projects as a project specialist at the ORNL Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) and High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) facilities.  Her most recent experience at BNL has been in integrating research screening processes at NSLS-II, including acting as a scientific and technical information assurance point of contact for export control reviews. 

Before working in the DOE national laboratories complex, Lacy was an Environmental Geochemist for a hydrology consulting company, mainly contributing to compliance reporting and quality assurance / data validation of environmental testing. 

Education

Master's Degrees in Industrial Engineering from University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Environmental Geochemistry, with a specialty in Spectroscopy, from Colorado School of Mines. Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Central Washington University with minors in mathematics, geology, and Spanish.
