Expertise

Within the DOE national laboratory complex, Lacy has served in a variety of roles as an operations professional at both light source and neutron scattering user research facilities; she has expertise in 1) program implementation and process improvement, 2) compliance and requirements management, 3) technical project management, and 4) experiment support.

Lacy's most recent experience has been in integrating research screening processes at BNL and NSLS-II, including serving as a scientific and technical information assurance point-of-contact for export control reviews. Prior to arriving at BNL, Lacy was a project lead and supported the program management of multidisciplinary teams for instrument/beamline upgrades (e.g., infrastructure, sample environment, detectors, and data software/hardware improvement projects) at two User Facilities - the ORNL Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) and the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) — in addition to her role as a Scientific Associate for inelastic neutron scattering beamlines at the SNS.

Before working in the DOE national laboratories complex, Lacy was an Environmental Geochemist for a hydrology consulting company, mainly contributing to analysis of environmental sampling, compliance reporting and quality assurance / data validation of environmental testing.

Education

Lacy has master's degrees in Industrial Engineering from University of Tennessee, Knoxville and in Environmental Geochemistry, with a specialty in Spectroscopy, from Colorado School of Mines. Lacy received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry with minors in mathematics, geology, and Spanish from Central Washington University.
