I love being a chemist at nsls2, where I work as a beamline scientist in the imaging and microscopy program. My passion is to develop nanoscale x-ray spectromicroscopy techniques that can reveal new insights into the structure and composition of materials.I enjoy collaborating with other researchers and using the state-of-the-art facilities at nsls2 to advance the frontiers of science.

Expertise

I am a researcher with expertise in X-ray nano-imaging, a technique that uses high-resolution X-ray microscopy to visualize nanoscale structures and processes. I have experience in applying this technique to various fields, such as biology, materials science and archaeology. I have also used Nano-XANES, a spectroscopic method that reveals the chemical composition and oxidation state of nanomaterials by measuring their X-ray absorption near-edge structure. I am proficient in python, a programming language that I use for data analysis and visualization of X-ray nano-imaging and Nano-XANES results.

Research Activities

We are developing nanospectroscopy capabilities to study the chemical and structural properties of materials at the nanoscale. Nanospectroscopy is a family of techniques that combine infrared spectroscopy and scanning probe microscopy to achieve high sensitivity and spatial resolution . We are focusing on nano-XANES and nano-EXAFS, which are methods to probe the local electronic structure and coordination environment of selected elements in a sample . We are applying these techniques to characterize materials in chemistry, biogeochemistry, and environmental sciences, such as proteins, minerals, and pollutants. We are also implementing a python-based data collection and analysis workflow for spectromicroscopy studies, which will enable us to automate and optimize the experimental process and data processing .
